Ireland

IE-46583

This postcard arrived from Ireland and was sent by Brian Fisherman.
It’s “Cleaning Mr. Badger’s Car” by Racey Helps (1913–1970) an English children’s author and illustrator. His books were written in a simple style and feature woodland creatures and birds, with illustrations by the author.
I really love it!

Thank you so much Brian!

USA

This beautiful postcard arrived from the USA and shows teh oil painting “Dapnhe and Chloe” by the american painter Elizabeth Jane Gardner.

Elizabeth Jane Gardner (October 4, 1837 – January 28, 1922) was an American academic and salon painter, who was born in Exeter, New Hampshire. She was an American expatriate who died in Paris where she had lived most of her life. She studied in Paris under William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825–1905), who she married in 1896. She adopted his subjects, compositions and even his smooth facture, adopted them so successfully that some of her work might be mistaken for his. In fact, she has been quoted as saying, “I know I am censured for not more boldly asserting my individuality, but I would rather be known as the best imitator of Bouguereau than be nobody!”

Thank you very much Elizabeth!

Russia

RU-1449295

This postcard came from Russia and is related with the 2014 Winter Olympics Games, that will be celebrated from 7 to 23 February 2014 in Sochi, Russia, with some events held in the resort town of Krasnaya Polyana.

Sochi was selected as the host city on 4 July 2007 during the 119th IOC Session in Guatemala City, defeating bids from Salzburg, Austria; and Pyeongchang, South Korea. The Sochi Olympics are the first Winter Olympics (and first Olympics altogether) for the Russian Federation, as the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow were in the Soviet Union.

Thank you Emila!

Thank you Sandra!

Lithuania

LT-264801

This postcard arrived from Lithuania,
another great christmas postcard.

Lithuania, officially the Republic of Lithuania is a country in Northern Europe, the largest of the three Baltic states. It is situated along the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea, to the east of Sweden and Denmark. It borders Latvia to the north, Belarus to the east and south, Poland to the south, and Kaliningrad Oblast (a Russian exclave) to the southwest. Lithuania has an estimated population of 3 million as of 2012, and its capital and largest city is Vilnius. The Lithuanians are a Baltic people, and the official language, Lithuanian, is one of only two living languages (together with Latvian) in the Baltic branch of the Indo-European language family.

It is a lovely postcard,
Thank you Ana!

This postcard arrived from Slovenia, send by Valentina.

Slovenia, officially the Republic of Slovenia, is a nation state situated in Central Europe at the crossroad of main European cultural and trade routes. It borders Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Croatia to the south and southeast and Hungary to the northeast. It covers 20,273 square kilometres and has a population of 2.05 million.
Relative to its geography, history, economy, culture, and language, it is a very diverse country distinguished by a transitional character and the capital and largest city of the country is Ljubljana.

One of the things that I most like about this postcard is the lovely deocration, with all the stickers and stamps.

Thank you very much Valentina!

Russia

RU-1371241

This postcard arrived from Siberia.

Siberia is an extensive geographical region constituting almost all of North Asia. Comprising the central and eastern portion of the Russian Federation, Siberia was part of the Soviet Union (USSR) from its beginning, as of its predecessor states, the Tsardom of Russia and the Russian Empire since the 16th century.
The territory of Siberia extends eastward from the Ural Mountains to the watershed between the Pacific and Arctic drainage basins. Siberia stretches southward from the Arctic Ocean to the hills of north-central Kazakhstan, then to the national borders of Mongolia and China.
Siberia makes up about 77% of Russia’s territory (13.1 million square kilometres), but is home to only 28% (40 million people) of Russia’s population.

The postcard was send by Lina and it’s about the sky lanterns launch in the summer, where more than 2000 lanterns were in the sky at the same time

Thank you Lina!

This is my first official postcard and it came from Syracuse New York.

Syracuse is a city in and the county seat of Onondaga County, New York, United States. It is the largest U.S. city with the name “Syracuse”, and is the fifth most populous city in the state of New York. In 2010 the city population was 145,170, (making it the 167th largest city in the country) and its metropolitan area had a population of 662,577. The city derives its name from Siracusa, a city on the eastern coast of the Italian island of Sicily.

The postcard shows the Bob’s Barkers Famous Hot Dogs & Coneys with the questions: “What did the zen master say to the hot dog vendor?” and the answer “Make me one with everything” in the back.

Thank you Anton!
